PRE-PROJECT

Before any work begins, we partner with you to fully understand your training project goals. We determine what your needs are, who your audience is, what your brand, mission, and values are, and, of course, your budget. We will also ask about any existing training materials so we can determine if this is a project that starts from scratch or an opportunity to improve and expand on something you already have. Whether you come to us with a complete plan or nothing at all, we will work together to ensure your project’s success.

SAMPLE SLIDES

With the information you have provided in the pre-project phase, we will create some slides to make sure we are aligned in our vision of the end goal. We can also decide on some of the specifics during this part of the process—the font, logo, and how users will navigate the course. The intention is to gain your confidence and be completely on the same page before proceeding further. If you like the look and feel of the sample, then that takes us to the next step in the process.

STORYBOARD

This is where is gets more detailed and our instructional designers jump in. Based on the pre-project information and sample slides, we will create a storyboard of the whole course. This means that you will see the basic layout and suggested graphics for each slide as well as notes on animation, interaction, and assessment. If you are including narration, we will also include a script for voiceover. Consider the storyboard the foundation of your online training course, a visual map that confirms the ideas and decisions we have made so far. Before moving forward, we will make any requested changes and get your approval to begin developing the course.

Note: We are flexible on how we execute the storyboard phase. Although we do not suggest skipping it altogether, we can accommodate urgent projects by going with a basic outline approach that gives a more collective idea of the course, rather than a detailed description of each slide. This is common when provided with detailed PowerPoint presentations that include the graphics and text you want to use for content as well as speaker notes that can be used for voiceover script.

CREATE & REVIEW

Now we have begun building your course using our online course development software. Once we complete a first draft, we will present it to you (and/or your designated subject matter expert) for review. You will be able to actually take the course to see how it looks and how it functions. We use a program that allows you to make edits and notes right inside the course itself. We will set up a web meeting to go over your feedback before starting the second draft. Our review policy allows reasonable changes throughout the project with typically more changes during the first draft review, while the second review is used mainly to confirm the first review feedback was incorporated, and the third draft is intended as the last step to finalize.

TESTING

You have reviewed the course and have seen it in action. The animation is great, the voiceover is perfectly timed, and the interactive buttons all work properly. Now is the time for you to test in your own learning management system (LMS). When the course works properly in the review environment, issues in your LMS are not common. But we believe it is always best to test. After you confirm that the course ran successfully in your LMS, we have reached the end of the project!

Note: We can work with your business if you do not have your own learning management system. We will have discussed this during our pre-project consultation.
